A fair question for Chris

A very fair question for Chris.

Chris, maybe I was caught up with disappointment with recent changes in your
policy and was too hard on you. I want to correct that and ask you one question
that will allow me to decide in my mind if your decision is fair and just. It
occurs to me that the only reason you would have in not honoring the free
upgrade agreement you made with me and many others is if the program you are now
marketing is truly a different program and not a routine upgrade like the many
you have so nicely provided. So here is my question.

What makes BreezeBrowser Pro a new program and not a maintenance or routine
upgrade of Breeze Browser?

Thanks so much from a long time supporter of you and your software.

Paul

Hi all,

For those of you might like to see a little bit of history, here is a link to the way Breezesys.com's website promoted an early version of Breezebrowser (June 2001):

http://web.archive.org/web/20010614002231/www.breezesys.com/BreezeBrowser/

If the full link breaks up, then here is the tinyurl link:

http://tinyurl.com/657p3

Breezebrowser has come a long way.

For those not familiar with archive.org, you may find it interesting. It is an archive of the way the web was and also allows you to search for things the way they were in the past.

Cheers,
Roger

Hmmmmm ...thats when I bought the program and look at what it says

"Upgrades to all future versions are free to registered users!"

I guess my definition of all future versions is different to most of
the people here.

Personally, I believe that Chris should honor all his
promises no matter how foolish they might have been. He is not going
to get any money from these "Whiners" anyway, but perhaps they will
support the product development in other ways. How many are there
anyway 5-10? He will regain the trust of us that do plus we can move
on to a forum focused on improvements.

I also feel that all of us should give the workman his
due (I have opt to pay extra for BreezeBrowser Pro).

Paul,
"BreezeBrowser Pro does everything BreezeBrowser does plus:

1) New image comparison window to compare up to four images on
screen at the same time. Images can be zoomed and panned together
and tagged for future reference
2) Faster image display in main view, filmstrip view and slideshow.
Images are cached to make it much faster to step backwards and
forwards through your shots and the next image is preloaded ready
for display
3) Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II raw conversion
4) New improved combined raw conversion for Canon EOS cameras
including the EOS-1D series
5) Contact sheets can be printed to file and saved as JPEG, TIFF or
PNG images so that they can be printed by your photo lab
6) Updated, searchable help files
7) Dialogs updated to use Windows XP controls and toolbar icons
redesigned
8) Priority email support for BreezeBrowser Pro customers"

There are many other additions and changes which weren't mentioned
including grid overlay display, new graphics library for faster
processing in proofs and raw post-processing and the ability to use
HTML tokens when batch renaming.

Some of the new features in BBPro will find their way into future
releases of BreezeBrowser, but over the next few releases the two
products will continue to diverge. You do not need to rush to make a
decision whether or not to upgrade - the upgrade from BB to BBPro
costs $25 and we have guaranteed this price will be held until Feb
28th 2005. The BBPro evaluation is unrestricted and will run for 15
days.

I hope this answers your question,

Chris

Speaking of which. Would it be possible to have an option to use non-Xp
tool icons? I find them distracting and ugly and would much rather have the
old ones back. I know of one developer who offers the option. His
application is written in Oracle.

Thanks for considering it.

You can do this using the BButil utility in the BBPro installation
folder.

Chris,

I am looking forward to improvements in the new product which
will soon be quite different if we can get past all this squabling
and apply our collective efforts for productively.

It appears to me that the Pro versions are already worth
my upgrade cost. I paid thru PayPal and intend to use both
BreezeBrowser Pro and Downloader Pro in my Photo Business. Can you
send my unlock codes ASAP?

Thanks, Roger M.

I think you'll find the improvement impressive and the promise even more
so. But I suspect our friend Chris is sound asleep at the moment. Worth the
wait until morning though. :)
